Green or Orange Moustache Juice Day?

Green or Orange Moustache Juice Day?

I love juices & smoothies and I find my body tells me whether it should be a Juice Day or a Smoothy Day.  Here are a couple of my favourites….

Now if you are wanting a green moustache here’s a supper green option that tastes incredibly refreshing thanks to the lemon:

  • 2 heads Romaine
  • 5-6 Kale
  • 1/2 Cucumber
  • 2-3 stalks Celery
  • 1 Broccoli stalks
  •  1 Apple
  • 1 Lemon
  • 2 cloves Garlic & 1.5 inch Ginger

Another favourite for those days when you feel like an orange moustache, thanks to a dose of beta carotene in the carrots!!!  A perfect option to have after an early morning run!!!

This magically refreshing concoction included:

  • 1 head Romaine
  • 4-5 Carrots
  • 1-1/2 Cucumber
  • 4-5 stalks Celery
  • 1 Apple
  • 1 Lemon

In general you’ll notice I have a few staples in my juices…. usually a base with cucumber, celery, lemon, apple or pear and then romaine and/or kale, after that I add whatever I have that adds to the flavour.  The garlic/ginger was particularly nice, really warms your insides… yum!!!

All in all, juices are the best vitamin rush in the world!!! :-)

My Library

My Library

(A few of) my source of wisdom!! :-)

I love love love books!!  And I’ve developed an amazing library of insight on the subject of nutrition: plant-based, vegetarian, vegan, raw vegan, living foods, etc.    These books have been an amazing source of information as I learn and explore the world of nutrition to find the best nutritional fit-for-me.   You can visit my Shop to start to build your own library.  In addition to the books I’ve also listed a few key video’s that I have found to be very informative over the years. Here are some of the titles I have in my library:

My NEW Favourite Book

My NEW Favourite Book

Ok, so I’m a bit of a book junkie when it comes to learning more about plant-based diets such as Raw Vegan, Vegan, Vegetarian  -  I love the learning and all the nutritional delights that come with that.

My latest discovery is “Crazy Sexy Diet” by Kris Carr.  Not only is the author amazing in the journey she has travelled since discovering she had stage 4 cancer in 2003, but the depth and breadth of knowledge she has gained on the impacts of nutrition are amazing!!!  She travelled all over the country to talk to the best of the best, she even went back to school to study nutrition.  And she shares all that she has discovered in her book.   It’s not so much the “diet” but the knowledge, insight, discoveries that she shares that (for me) have provided a deeper understanding into the “whys” so that I can make better decisions for my own nutrition.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to better understand why your mind, body and soul can benefit from a vegan diet.   And it’s not just about what you eat, but it’s about what you Eat, Drink and Think that can and do affect your being, all three of which we have control over.

You can Order your copy of Crazy Sexy Diet here!! (no I don’t get $ from Kris Carr to promote this :-) I genuinely love her work!)

I hope you will enjoy this book as much as I have… I think this coming weekend is time for another read of her inspirational work!!!  Thanks Kris!!

Update since original post:  Kris Carr has a new book coming out Crazy Sexy Kitchen, it will be released October 2012.  I’ve pre-ordered my copy!!  You can also Pre-Order Crazy Sexy Kitchen!!  Or get a Sneak Peak of her recipes – Save the Tuna Salad Sandwich as well!!

Enjoy!!
