Cleansing Juice

Cleansing Juice

I love my Breville juicer (if you are looking for a juicer check out my thoughts on Choosing a Juicer), I love juice, I especially love green juice!!  I always feel better after a green juice, it’s amazing how wonderful it makes you feel.

Here’s today’s creation – kale provides an abundance of nutrients, cucumber is super hydrating, cilantro is cleansing, garlic and ginger warm our insides, lemon is refreshing and all together a powerhouse juice that will feed your body & soul!!

  • 2-3 stalks green kale
  • 2-3 stalks red kale
  • 1 apple (optional if you prefer fruit/sugar free)
  • 3 stalks celery
  • 1 cucumber (cucumber is very hydrating)
  • 1 bunch cilantro (is a great cleanser)
  • 2 garlic cloves (warm your insides)
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 apple

Two Colourful Juices

Two Colourful Juices

Bright Eyes Juice

Here are a couple of new (new to us that is) juice recipes that are very very yummy and very easy to make….

Bright Eyes from the book Going Raw by Judita Wignall is very yummy and it is so very simple!!  Oh and she has tons of great recipes in her book, I highly recommend it!!

  • 4 large carrots
  • 2 oranges.
  • Process through juicer, pour into glass and drink!! How simple is that!!

Liver Cleanse Juice

Another simple juice recipe from the same book is Liver Cleanse, not quite as sexy a name as Bright Eyes, but it is very very refreshing!!

  • 1 beet
  • 1 apple
  •  1 cucumber
  • Process through juicer, and enjoy!!
Green or Orange Moustache Juice Day?

Green or Orange Moustache Juice Day?

I love juices & smoothies and I find my body tells me whether it should be a Juice Day or a Smoothy Day.  Here are a couple of my favourites….

Now if you are wanting a green moustache here’s a supper green option that tastes incredibly refreshing thanks to the lemon:

  • 2 heads Romaine
  • 5-6 Kale
  • 1/2 Cucumber
  • 2-3 stalks Celery
  • 1 Broccoli stalks
  •  1 Apple
  • 1 Lemon
  • 2 cloves Garlic & 1.5 inch Ginger

Another favourite for those days when you feel like an orange moustache, thanks to a dose of beta carotene in the carrots!!!  A perfect option to have after an early morning run!!!

This magically refreshing concoction included:

  • 1 head Romaine
  • 4-5 Carrots
  • 1-1/2 Cucumber
  • 4-5 stalks Celery
  • 1 Apple
  • 1 Lemon

In general you’ll notice I have a few staples in my juices…. usually a base with cucumber, celery, lemon, apple or pear and then romaine and/or kale, after that I add whatever I have that adds to the flavour.  The garlic/ginger was particularly nice, really warms your insides… yum!!!

All in all, juices are the best vitamin rush in the world!!! :-)
